Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle rental requirements:
- To hire a vehicle from Hyde, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, with potential extra charges for those under 25. A valid, full driving license suitable for the chosen vehicle category is required, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, valid identification and proof of current address must be presented, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any further prerequisites outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be fulfilled.
Booking and Payment Terms
- You can make reservations through our website, by phone, or directly at our Dartford location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely by trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and must be signed by you. Please ensure the vehicle is returned in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and charges will apply as necessary. It is your duty to return the vehicle with the same fuel level as received; otherwise, refueling fees will be applied. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please contact us as soon as you suspect a delay. You will also be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other fees incurred during your rental, plus an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rental agreements with Hyde include basic third-party insurance coverage. Detailed information regarding coverage and excess amounts is outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help limit your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms rests with you, irrespective of any insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle may not be used for any unlawful activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Additionally, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside designated geographical areas without prior consent are all violations of our policy.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Hyde Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims is capped at the total amount you paid for the rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
Updates to Terms
Hyde reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
